Math Touch Counting
Today we started a math activity the students are to complete upon entering the classroom after lunch and recess. They have tubs with manipulatives on their desk when they return and on the dry erase board in the calendar area is three problems for them to solve. They are given a specific number and color of items to count out. Once they have found all three, they are to raise their hand and I check their work with them. I tell them what color to count and they touch count that color. If they have an incorrect amount out, I have them do that color again. Once they have all three colors/numbers correct they get to "play" with their manipulatives until all are finished. Below are pictures of the students touch counting their manipulatives.
