These students are working at their seats on work on writing or word work.
These two girls are reading to someone. They are sharing a book and sitting "EEKK". EEKK stands for elbow, elbow, knee, knee. The students sit next to each other and read a book together or to each other.
These students are listening to a story on tape at the listening station. Each student has a job at the station. The jobs the students are assigned are press play, press stop and rewind, hold the book and clean up. Having jobs for each student helps in managing the station.

We Love To Rhyme!

The finished products in the hallway from our Dr. Seuss hat rhyming activity that is posted below. They turned out great!

Surfer of the Week

Samuel brought in a pack of numbers he made at home to share with the class today. He showed the class one number at a time to see if they knew them!

Dr. Seuss

After reading many Dr. Seuss books this week, we noticed a common theme. Dr. Seuss LOVES to rhyme in his stories. We used our "-at" word family and created our own Dr. Seuss rhyming hats today!

Missing Number Mini-Lesson

During our first math mini-lesson today, we worked on missing numbers. I put six problems on the board and called on students to come up and pick a problem to solve. We discussed how the missing number was either one less or one more than the number next to it.

Students working at the math with someone station. They are playing a game recognizing numbers. This week the numbers are 0-20. Next week I will be adding 21-30 and so on the following weeks to make the station more challenging.

This student is practicing addition problems at the math by myself station. Next week, I will be taking the addition cards out and replacing them with subtraction cards.

The next two students are working on numbers at the number work station. Both of these students chose the dry erase boards to practice writing numbers.

This student is at the math by myself station practicing his patterns. He pulls out a pattern card and creates that patterns using his different colored pieces.

Surfer of the Week

Samuel brought in one of his favorite toys!

He also brought in pictures from when he was little.
 Thank you Samuel!

iPod Touch!

I have been introducing how to use our new iPod touches in our classroom. Today, I had two students model how to complete one of the word building apps that we will be using during our working with words station. The class is very excited to use this new technology! I am hoping to put them in the stations to use in the next couple of weeks!
