During calendar everyday we have a music and movement portion where the class has a chance to get up and move! Today we had a song where we had to listen to directions and follow what it said with specific music. The second time through the directions were not given and the class had to remember what exercise went with what piece of music. This clip is of the students ice skating and hopping!

Grandparent's Fair Picture Slideshow!

We had a great time at this year's grandparent fair. The grandparents and the students enjoyed their time together. Check out pictures from our fun time!

Piece by piece of what we used to create our own story/character bags for the story "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat".

This week we have been focussing on nocturnal animals, specifically bats. We read the silly story "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat!" The first day we read the story in a big book format. After reading the story, we put speech bubbles next to the characters to add detail to the pages and use our imagination to what they are thinking or saying on the particular page. Today, we read a smaller version of the book and cut out our own characters. We glued the main character, the old lady, on the front of a baggie. We then cut each of the other characters out and put them inside the baggie. We read through the story a second time today and placed the characters in the old lady in order with the story. The class had a fun time with this and are excited to retell the story at home using their character bags.

ADDITION!!  We started adding numbers 0-10 with +0 and +1. We completed several problems in the past couple of days whole group and today the students did them on their own. Next week we will start with +2.

Literacy Stations today. We added three new stations this week. Handwriting, Games/Puzzles and Small Books. The class has done a great job with this. Adding three more stations also allowed for the groups to be smaller when going to the station. Each student is in a group of 2 or 3.
