We had a fun time at our Beach Party to celebrate the last week of school!

Fish Painting

We learned all about the ocean and the animals, plants and other creatures living deep in the sea. At the end of our week long unit we created an illustration where we drew the outline of an under the sea picture with crayons. We did not color the inside of the crayons, instead we painted the inside using our water colors. The paintings turned out wonderful!

Butterflies!

We had the opportunity to watch five caterpillars grow from teeny tiny caterpillars to larger caterpillars, into their J-hangs, form their cocoons and emerge as butterflies! We kept a daily/weekly butterfly journal of our observations throughout the three week process. We were so excited to finally get to release them into the outdoors where they could fly away and live their lives free!

Indianapolis Zoo

We went on our final field trip for the year to the Indianapolis Zoo. We had perfect weather and enjoyed a fun filled day seeing the animals up close and in person!

 

Zoo Week Animal Fun

During our week long study of animals at the zoo we specifically focused on three animals. On Tuesday we studied elephants, Wednesday lions and Thursday giraffes! After creating a chart about what we learned from each animal we wrote one fact under a hand print painting of the animal. We also finished the week off by bringing in our favorite stuffed zoo animal to share!
